Substance Addiction

Substance addiction is a complex disorder characterized by compulsive drug use. While addiction is difficult to understand, all abused substances share one thing in common - repeated use could change the way the brain looks and functions. Some people can use recreational or prescription drugs without ever experiencing negative consequences or addiction. For others, substance use can cause problems at school, work and home, and in relationships.

Alzheimer’s & Dementia

The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. Dementia is caused when diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease or a series of strokes, damage the brain. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse. In most cases, there is no way to cure the diseases that cause dementia. However, there are drugs and treatments available that may help alleviate some of the symptoms.
